  my father passed around 9 this morning.

  he'd been in poor health for some time, but it still comes as a shock to have him gone.

  we are going to miss him terribly.

  Did the ending of John Carpenter's The Thing sit right with you?

  I love the original, I haven't seen the remake yet. I'm not a fan of modern horror but I loved John Carpenter's early stuff. I think The Thing is one of those rare movies where the ambiguous ending is good. Interesting fan commentary here on whether Childs was infected http://blastr.com/2011/08/was-childs-the-thing-one.php

  Actually I was wrong. I only realised when I was chatting to an actor friend at the school gates and remembered he's famous (not Tom Cruise famous but in films/television).

  the growing ranks of the anointed are a threat to their power.

  today's watchtower made it clear that jehovah uses the governing body, no mention of the faithful & discreet slave.. i think they need new light on this in the next year or two..
